Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Director of Philanthropy to join our team! This full-time exempt role will help execute HAF's philanthropy vision through fundraising, cultivating, and donor relations. We are also looking for a professional who wants to make a difference and contribute to HAF's mission.
Essential Duties:
The ideal candidate will be outgoing, highly energetic, excel in sales closing, creative in generating leads, detail-oriented and able to work independently or as part of a team with a strong work ethic and dependability. The successful candidate will be able to perform the following duties with or without reasonable accommodations: Cultivate new prospects by articulating HAF's mission, needs and impact through virtual or face-to-face meetings.
Research potential donors to explore their interests, engagement level and giving capacity.
Solicit for financial support by making the ask, conducting the negotiation, closing the deal and securing the pledge.
Steward existing Donor Circle members to ensure ongoing support and develop strategies to increase a donor's annual giving level.
Assist with year-end and seasonal giving campaigns.
Increase attendance at HAF events and galas through personalized outreach.
Nurture continued giving through estate planning by launching and leading digitized. (20%) and print (80%) planned giving campaigns in collaboration with marketing team.
Coordinate gatherings, fundraisers and galas in partnership with the Associate Director of Development and events planning team.
Seek opportunities for donors to double their donation through employer matching.
Work closely with Philanthropy Coordinator to maintain accurate database records for portfolio of leads and donors.
Assist in the creation of dashboards for quantifying data and analyzing effectiveness.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in liberal arts, business administration, marketing, public relations, accounting, finance, economics, non-profit management, philanthropy studies, psychology, sociology or related field. Master's degree is a plus, but not required. Minimum 3-5 years of fundraising, development, advancement or sales experience in a similar role at a mission-driven organization.
Working knowledge of India, Indic languages, and Hindu teachings, practices, and traditions is a plus, but not required.
Ability to communicate effectively with a record of successful collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Fluency in platforms such as Google Workspace, Google Sheets or Excel, Powerpoint and online collaboration tools (e.g., Asana, Zoom, Slack).
Technical experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems such as Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) or similar platform is a strong plus. Willingness to learn new technology and donor platforms.
Strong proficiency in the following competencies: attention to detail, time and priority management, organization skills, and self-management.
Strong relationship building, leads generation and sales closing skills.
