The healthcare industry faces many problems - affordability, substandard customer service and inconsistency in care quality, and is not designed around the customer needs, leading to a subpar service experience. Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH) is building a customer-focused strategy to solve these problems. We are innovating products and services as a part of Baylor Health Enterprises, an internal startup within the health system. The Customer Solutions team serves as a major growth engine for responsible for developing and launching new digital customer solutions. Customer Solutions generates growth from innovative "white space" opportunities, with a special emphasis on ideas that span digital and traditional in-person channels.

Position Summary:
The Portfolio Lead will be responsible for a portfolio comprising a third of the startup's products. They will report directly to the EVP, Chief Product Officer. The Lead will be responsible for hiring and leading the product management team. The Lead will own the P&L for their portfolio in this new startup, manage and assess internal and external partners, own the ideation and commercialization, bring key features to market, and be responsible for product development, operations, and GTM strategy. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team that will change the status quo for how a health system goes to market.
Jobs to Be Done:
1. Portfolio Strategy (define "the what")
- Define a portfolio business model, including value proposition, go-to-market, technology & operations, and financial plan
- Accountable for overall category strategy informed by customer needs & problems and broader market trend
i. Working in collaboration with the Innovation Portfolio team and Customer Journeys team, develops a deep understanding of customer needs and problems (via customer interviews, surveys, etc.) and the market (competitors, buyers, distributors) for the product
ii. Develop a compelling value proposition for each product
- Oversee execution of all phases of product lifecycle within category (strategy, development, and commercialization)
i. Coordinate across Portfolio Leads to facilitate coordination for "ingredients" common across product
ii. Define minimum viable product at launch (i.e., smallest set of features needed to test a hypothesis) and approach for adding new feature
- Define, measure, monitor & report on OKRs for portfolio of product
- Develop and manage the financial plan & P&L for the portfolio
2. Product Development & Operations (define and execute "the how")
- Develop and execute the portfolio business model, including the GTM plan
- Guide product teams in converting product concepts into prototypes for testing with customer
- Oversee end-to-end agile product development for portfolio product
- Optimize production costs to allocate resources appropriately throughout product development cycle
3. Product Commercialization (get product to market)
- Develop a robust GTM plan and own relationships in the marketplace
- Oversee execution of and coordinate the GTM plans across portfolio product
4. Team Development
- Identify, hire, grow, and develop a best-in-class product management team
- Encourage a culture of humility and team empowerment to innovate through calculated risk-taking and entrepreneurial thinking
Success Factors:
- Achieve specific category goals (i.e., OKRs) and P&L
- Provide oversight for building differentiated products to solve customer problem
- Build strong collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to build and operate category product
- Facilitate 'ingredient' coordination with other category lead
- Be the BSWH expert in the product category-focused solutions & problem
- Maintain category with products that solve clear customer problem
- Manage category finances in accordance with approved budget
- Coach and guide a high-performing team
Preferred Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in STEM or related field
- Master of Business Administration or Product Development preferred
- 7+ years of professional experience in healthcare product management
- Willing to travel to Dallas at least 1x per month
- Experience bringing new solutions to the market within a product development framework
- Experience managing executive-level relationships with internal and external stakeholder
- Experience balancing a portfolio of initiatives, preferably innovation-based
- Experience sourcing new product opportunities, leading change and building new lines of business in a startup culture
- Keen understanding of incumbent stakeholders (e.g. employers and health plans) and their needs

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in STEM or related field
- 7 years required, 10-15 years preferred
