Summary:
Reports to the CS Manager and is responsible for supervision and quality of work per Surgery Center Central Sterile. Responsible for overseeing all activities occurring in the Central Sterile Processing Department, focused on department quality, staff supervision and productivity. Oversees the decontamination, assembly sterilization, and HLD activities within the Surgery Center Series. Responsible for all processes associated with cleaning, assembly and sterilization, as well as necessary storage and transport of specific instrumentation, surgical sets and patient care equipment. Supervises staff members and plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates training and educational needs. Utilizes department measurement tools to monitor and report quality and productivity within department, on a daily basis.
Education: Requires a minimum of an Associate's degree. Experience beyond the work experience requirement may be substituted for the degree on 2 years of experience for 1 year of education basis .i.e. 4 years. Bachelor's degree preferred. Course work in medical terminology, quality assurance, quality control, and business management required on an ongoing basis.
Required Licensure Certification, etc. Certification through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CPSPD) as a Central Supply Processing Department Technician (CSPDT) or certification through International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) within 12 months of hire is required.
Work Experience: Five years working in central sterile processing, manufacturing, logistics, or assembly in a healthcare environment required, which must include three years in a demonstrated leadership or supervisory role.
