Job Summary
This position will be based remotely initially, but the candidate will be expected to eventually be based at the planned Houston, TX site.
The Design Leader will be responsible for the creation, ownership, and configuration control of the design documentation packages for BayoTech’s hydrogen Hubs. The Design Leader will direct external engineering resources to create detailed plant/process layouts and isometric drawings, generate pro forma Bills of Materials, call out materials specifications, and assess robustness via pipe stress analysis, hydraulic calculations, and safety considerations. This role will be responsible for delivering a complete drawing and model package, which can be used for equipment procurement and fabrication with minimal augmentation. The Design Leader will have a crucial role in revision and change control over the design documentation and will drive this discipline with external and internal team members.
Core Duties And Responsibilities
Own the creation and updating of CAD models (markups, revision control, reviews, signoffs, drawing/model checking) for the hydrogen generator processes at each hub.
Effectively leverage contract engineering resources (task breakdown, prioritization) holding them accountable to achieve project goals.
Solicit feedback from BayoTech process design team as required and incorporate changes via redlining.
Perform duties of a CAD Designer on occasion, if required to meet project commitments.
Maintain document repository with logical structure and naming conventions.
Assign CAD Designer resources to jobs, assist in scheduling, and provide technical support as needed.
Prepare drawing/document packages with necessary elements to allow handoff to 3 rd parties for fabrication.
Qualifications
Associate degree in CAD/Drafting is required; BS degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology is preferred. 5 years of direct work experience in lieu of degree.
Proficiency with the Autodesk suite of CAD software (AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Navisworks) or equivalent, and markup tools (Bluebeam, Adobe, or equivalent) required.
Ability to prepare Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID), Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Block Flow Diagrams (BFD), and detailed specifications for projects.
Ability to read redlines and modify drawings accurately.
Familiarity with chemical process equipment, rotating equipment, or mechanical fluid/gas conveyance systems is desirable.
5+ years of industrial experience, in a role involving setting goals and objectives for others.
