he Building Service Engineer is dis inguished by he independen and ongoing performance of main enance and repair work on a wide range of hea ing, ven ila ing, plumbing, elec rical, mechanical, refrigera ion, air condi ioning, and wa er sys ems. he Building Service Engineer performs work on complex hea ing, refrigera ion, air-condi ioning and o her mechanical sys ems. Posi ion makes decisions based upon sound main enance prac ice.

Posi ion Informa ion

Performs hea ing, ven ila ion and air condi ioning preven ive main enance including: es s, adjus s, and calibra es boiler and air condi ioning machinery and mechanical, elec rical, pneuma ic, and microprocessor con rol ins rumen s.

es s and chemically rea s boiler, condenser, and cooling ower wa er and wa er from o her sys ems.

Lubrica es, cleans, prepares and pain s mechanical sys ems, machinery and piping as par of corrosion con rol for preven ive main enance.

Main ains swimming pools mechanical pumping, fil ering equipmen and chemical balancing.

Repairs and replaces bearings, shaf s, seals, rings, and elec rical wiring and ins alls cen ral sys em par s, gauges, valves and pipes which requires he applica ion of journey-level skills in one or more of he applicable rades.

Minimum Qualifica ions

Knowledge:

Work requires horough knowledge of high and low pressure boilers, and hea ing, pneuma ic, ven ila ing, air-condi ioning, refrigera ion and o her mechanical equipmen ; horough knowledge of he me hods, ools and ma erials used in he opera ion, main enance and repair of such equipmen ; general knowledge of ven ila ion principles, hermal dynamics, and closed wa er sys ems; working knowledge of energy managemen sys ems including he abili y o unders and and use sys em fea ures; and a general knowledge of he applicable s a e and federal safe y codes and regula ions per aining o mechanical and HVAC sys ems.

Experience:

Five years of journey-level experience in he opera ion, main enance and repair of boilers, hea ing, ven ila ing, refrigera ion and air condi ioning equipmen and sys ems.

Achievemen of journey-level skills acquired hrough comple ion of an applicable appren iceship program.
