New Leaf Energy is seeking a  Senior Design Engineer I to join our growing team Design Engineering team.

About the Role

In this role you will draw on engineering and drafting skills, software knowledge, and project management skills to support efficient design of distributed generation and utility-scale projects. You will utilize your technical leadership skills to support the needs of a successful project and ongoing process improvement. You will be supported by the internal engineering staff, including design drafters and other civil, structural, and electrical engineers, and will build an understanding of New Leaf Energy’s business to help achieve our goals by serving a Regional Team.

Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Design projects according to New Leaf Energy Design Standards and understand and improve the functionality of company design tools;

Manage 25-30 active commercial and/or utility-scale solar and/or energy storage projects;

Anticipate challenges with complex projects;

Identify process improvements across a range of project types and development stages;

Train others to use tools and software (e.g., PVcase, PVsyst, PVBid, AutoCAD);

Report lessons learned to the rest of the Development Engineering team (code requirements, optimal systems for new markets, etc.);

Lead a continuous improvement initiative to refine internal processes;

Work in a mentorship role with less experienced team members.

Desired Qualifications

While no one individual will possess them all, the successful candidate will bring many of the following experiences, skills, and attributes. 4-8 years of experience as an Electrical Design Engineer, or similar position, working with and leading engineering projects;

NABCEP Certification preferred;

Utility-scale PV and/or ESS development (100+ MW) experience a plus;

Advanced understanding of system design and engineering concepts;

Ability to manage the design of multiple complex projects;

Proficient with PV Case, PV Syst, PV Bid;

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation

New Leaf Energy compensates all employees in three ways: market-competitive base salary, plus above-market variable compensation, plus an equity-like program such that all employees experience the benefits of ownership. We use a data-driven and transparent methodology to calibrate compensation that is externally competitive and internally equitable, guided by the New Leaf Energy compensation manual, which is available to all employees.

Under our compensation framework, the likely base salary range for this position in the Lowell location is $109,490 - $124,810. The on-target annual cash bonus associated with this position is an additional 10% percent of base salary. Your actual salary may be above, in, or below this range, depending on your location and experience.
