Locus Robotics is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to play a key role in launching new products – leading and executing manufacturing readiness activities with contract manufacturers and the internal manufacturing team. You will be responsible for ensuring that designs are optimized for mass production through Dfx (Design for Excellence). You will continually improve released products to achieve cost reduction and volume growth goals. Your expertise in new product introduction, commodity knowledge, quality improvement, and production scaling will be essential to success in this position, which spans the entire product life cycle.
This is an onsite, 5 days per week, role in our Wilmington, MA office.
Responsibilities:
Execute manufacturing readiness for new products and processes.
Collaborate with product design teams to ensure manufacturability of new products and provide input on design for manufacturability (DFM) principles.
Design and implement process improvements to enhance product quality, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
Conduct research and feasibility studies related to manufacturing methods, materials, and equipment.
Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flowcharts, and standard operating procedures.
Provide technical support to internal and external production teams.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for manufacturing defects and field non-conformities.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to drive pro ductivity improvements.
Designing of fixtures and tooling.
Qualifications:
BS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering and/or applicable technical discipline.
10+ years of experience in robotics, automation, and or equivalent field supporting production and/or design.
Demonstrated leadership and project management skills in areas of new product introduction, continuous improvement, and cost reduction programs.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
Broad knowledge of lifecycle management through Omnify PLM or equivalent.
Experience working with contract manufacturers and commodity suppliers.
Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
Hands-on experience qualifying parts for production.
This role is full-time and on-site. Candidate must be able to work from Locus offices in both NH and MA
Up to 20% travel, for example to contract manufacturing suppliers.
Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
