Base salary $180-$200K
The Director, Software Engineering for Medical Device plays a critical role in the development of medical device software, as well as the planning, development, and execution of product designs and strategies. This position is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to other software engineering teams, as well as managing the software development process to ensure the successful delivery of software projects.
Qualifications/requirements
Bachelor's degree in a related field (Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering)
Coding - Embedded C/C++ and Python expertise along with code reviews.
Version control, compiling, and Code packaging with GCC, CMake, and Git is required.
Test development and use of static analysis tools
8++ years of experience in software engineering, with experience in embedded software development and hardware and software system design.
Wireless technology - Familiarity with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Wi-Fi and other low power wireless standards.
Direct experience with medical device software development, including Bluetooth low energy (BLE), GIT, SPI, RS232/485, wi-fi, I2C, ARM Cortex M microcontrollers, CAN, Hardware Security, USB, Ethernet, AES, RSA, Cloud (Aws, Azure, Etc.), Motors, MEMS sensors.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and implementation of medical device embedded software solutions
Develop and maintain software architecture designs, coding standards, and design patterns for medical device software
Oversee the development of hardware and software systems and components based on customer requirements and industry standards
Analyze and troubleshoot system issues and provide root cause analysis and corrective action plans
Oversee the development of medical device software systems, including unit test development, static analysis tools, code packaging, and scripting
Manage 3rd party resources, such as external hardware and software vendors, to ensure timely delivery of products
Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices to ensure software solutions are up-to-date
Lead the planning and execution of software projects and ensure teams are working in a collaborative environment
Liaise with business and executive teams to ensure software solutions meet customer needs and business objectives
Provide coaching and mentoring to other software engineering teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects
Create prototypes of software solutions and provide guidance on their implementation
Ensure software development processes are properly documented and compliant with FDA's Quality System Regulations
Support the transition from prototyping to production and ensure the product meets customer requirements.
