The Practice Manager – Real Estate Industry (“REI”)will be responsible for managing certain processes of the Business Unit that are critical to Business Unit priorities. The position works under the direction of the Business Unit Director and works closely with partners and administrative team members to ensure timely and effective execution on processes and systems that support the strategic direction of the Business Unit.
What You Will Do:
Overall Business Unit Management: Work with the Business Unit Director – REI to manage operational and strategic aspects of the practice, including internal organization, meetings, information management, and other initiatives as requested by the Business Unit Director. Identify needs and opportunities and work to advance Business Unit initiatives.
Talent Management: Based upon a solid understanding of the talent management goals of both the Business Unit and the individual attorneys, interacts with partners and administrators on various talent management initiatives, including BU efforts related to recruitment, diversity and inclusion, professional development, and training. Understand the broader firm tools, process and strategy to ensure proper execution on the BU’s initiatives.
Reporting / Analytics: Produces reporting and analytics to inform Business Unit leadership on trends related overall business unit management, talent management, and training.
General: Provide general administrative support to the Business Unit and to the legal practice areas within the Business Unit.
Who You Are:
J.D. degree with 5 to 7 years’ experience as an attorney, preferably in a large law firm.
Alternatively, a BA degree with 5+ years of experience in a professional service firm or complex organization.
A former junior/mid-level associate who developed significant project management skills in part by transferring to a law firm role (e.g., staffing manager) and growing in that role for 5+ years.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to develop and forge positive and collaborative working relationships.
Demonstrate sound judgment and to respect, protect, and maintain highly confidential and sensitive information.
Proven experience in effectively manage projects and tasks including demonstrating delegation and organizational skills.
Work independently, be proactive, and take initiative.
Has effective creative problem solving and people management skills including coaching and mentoring.
Working knowledge of Word, Outlook, and Excel. Ability to learn and utilize additional programs.
