+ Reports to the Building Manager when there are electrical or plumbing issues; Monitors for leaks, lamp burn out and temperature.

+ Maintains studio sinks and drain collectors; manage toxic collection drums in studios, informs Building Manager when pick up is needed. Sorts end of semester projects for recycle or dispose of materials.

+ Supports exhibition including lighting focus, maintain floor protection and cleaning. Provides guidance on egress and safe pathways in studios. Supports student installation when necessary.

+ Meets contractors and directs them to appropriate location, is available for routine questions.

+ Supports Teaching staff with safety protocols including egress, ladders and PPE when necessary.

+ Performs minor repairs on studio equipment such as easels, tables, etc. must be trained on Woodshop equipment to support staff as needed. Clean woodshop equipment.

Job Summary:

The Carpenter Center (CC) is a highly visible historic building that houses artistic endeavors for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Responsible for maintaining a clean and supportive environment. The role of the Maintenance crew is to support the academic and public facing events that include classes, events, screenings, programs and exhibitions.

With supervision, this position works with faculty, students, staff and also interacts with the public. Studio classes take place both in CC and in Linden Studios and often require unique settings. This position works with all aspects of the AFVS population as students and faculty alike strive to achieve particular effects. Based primarily in the historic building, the Carpenter Center, all staff encounter an international audience.
