JOB SUMMARY:

NORC at the University of Chicago is seeking a Systems Analyst to support and implement administrative software at NORC. This position will focus on supporting existing third-party vendor software including accounting, financial planning, C&G, HR, and payroll applications. Key responsibilities include being an expert liaison between the business and IT department, knowing how to translate business requirements into IT solutions.

DEPARTMENT: IT Administrative Systems and Support

NORC's Information Technology department provides technology services to our staff and clients. Given the critical role technology plays in our day-to-day lives, we are committed to delivering professional, high-quality solutions to achieve our collective goal of advancing social science research.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leading implementations and/or upgrades of any new software applications within NORC’s administrative/enterprise systems.

Training users on the new applications and acting as functional expert of the systems.

Handling ad-hoc report requests and performing basic server maintenance.

System administration and configuration.

Provide second tier application support of all admin systems

Database administration (SQL Server 2012 and 2017), along with SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS development (report writing experience). Power BI experience is a plus.

Documenting technical/business processes.

Designing and developing custom interfaces between applications.

The systems analyst will work as part of a team, but is expected to operate with minimal supervision.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

B.S. in Computer Science or an analytical degree such as Finance, Accounting, or Engineering with Information Systems experience, plus at least four (4) years of relevant work experience.

Knowledge of one or more of the following systems is a plus: ADP Enterprise, Deltek (Costpoint, Time Collection, FocusPoint), IBM Cognos BI, TM1, Concur, ProPricer, eProtocol, ContractPodAI, Aravo, and JIRA administration.

Ability to multitask and handle more than one project simultaneously.

Candidates should also have strong problem solving and analytical skills to diagnose system problems; working knowledge of SQL language.

Familiarity with business intelligence practices, including proficiencies in data warehousing in SQL Server, as well as basic knowledge of Extract, Transformation and Load (ETL) tools.

Knowledge of DBA tasks coupled with database SQL development. Solid written and oral communication skills are required.

The candidate will interact with users with various technical expertise and business/financial experience and must be able to communicate effectively.

Understanding of basic financial or accounting principles is a plus.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

The pay range for this position is$97,000 – $145,000.

This position is classified as regular. Regular staff are eligible for NORC’s comprehensive benefits program. Benefits include, but are not limited to:
