California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) seeks an Information Technology Specialist I in the Technology Infrastructure Services Division, Systems Engineering and Storage Management Section.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Developing solutions for infrastructure systems.

Acting as a subject matter expert in a variety of technologies such as enterprise storage, virtualization, backup systems, and disaster recovery.

Researching new technologies for potential implementation and integration with current systems.

Sets new datacenter hardware standards.

Providing technical advice to other system and application administrators, assisting in solving complex system problems and in achieving the best use of available hardware and software resources.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate: Technical knowledge and experience with Storage Area Networks (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS)

Technical knowledge and experience with VMware virtualization

Technical knowledge and experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system and/or the Windows Server operating system

Technical knowledge and experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, LDAP

Technical knowledge and experience with Data Backups, Restores and Disaster Recovery
