Summary
The Communications Manager supports the work of two large research centers focused on education policy by developing, editing and formatting strategic messages for distribution through various multi-media channels: policy briefs, press releases, mass emails, blog posts, and websites. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to assisting the Associate Director with coordinating board meetings, webinars, and public events, providing program support for research, as well as managing websites for both centers.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Excellent working knowledge of media relations and social media outreach. • Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments and timely meet established deadlines. • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with diverse constituencies. • Ability to work independently. • Ability to create high-quality charts and presentations using Microsoft Office software. • Excellent organizational and time management skills. • Working knowledge of website design and maintenance. • Working knowledge of InDesign or similar software applications.
Required Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field and/or two years’ related experience
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with New Orleans public schools or knowledge of local education issues.
Compensation Information
This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 25.
