Summary:
Performs software analysis, design, and implementation of user-computer interfaces for training devices and systems developed for operator and maintenance training.
Essential Job Functions:
Analyzes, designs, and implements real-time software for operator and maintenance training.
Using analysis and critical thinking skills to determine and assess the needs of the user and create software to meet the requirements.
Performs in-house software review processes including peer review and compliance with an approved Software Development Plan.
Identifies VSIM, VR, and AR development requirements.
Provides clear oral and written instructions to the project team, clearly explaining how the software works to the customer and having the ability to answer any questions that may arise using exceptional communication skills.
Creates requirements documents used for the development of complex media used in technical and maintenance training.
Attends and briefs project status and engineering issues at In Progress Reviews and ensures discrepancies noted by the reviewing authority are recorded as appropriate Action Items.
Safely handles government furnished equipment and materials.
Works a standard weekly schedule of 40 hours with overtime as required.
Performs other duties as required.
Assists in the development of training level of effort estimates for customers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Two years progressive experience in scientific computer programming and analysis in broad based ADP is preferred. Specific project experience is also a plus.
Proficient in C++ and/or C is required.
Experience in UNIX/LINUX operating systems preferred.
Background in programming and familiarity with languages such as Ruby, Python, C# and others.
Must be proficient in Unity and other gaming software.
Experience with MS Visual Studio and Open GL is preferred.
Must be self-motivated.
Must be a quick learner.
Ability to establish priorities to ensure tasks are accomplished on schedule.
Education and Experience:
Two or four-year degree in a computer or engineering major is preferred but may be substituted with 2 years of programming/engineering experience.
