CNC Programmer

This role focuses on creating and optimizing CNC programs using Mastercam to support complex machining operations in a growing defense-focused aerospace manufacturing environment. The CNC Programmer develops tooling strategies, applies GD&T principles, and collaborates closely with manufacturing teams to ensure efficient, accurate, and repeatable production of precision components.

Responsibilities

• Program CNC machines using Mastercam to support 3-axis and 5-axis machining operations.
• Develop and implement effective tooling strategies to optimize machining performance, tool life, and cycle times.
• Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to ensure parts meet engineering and quality requirements.
• Interpret and work from blueprints and engineering drawings to create accurate CNC programs.
• Utilize Work Coordinate Systems (WCS) within Mastercam to set up and manage complex machining operations.
• Plan and write Standard Manufacturing Routes (SMR) or similar process documentation to support consistent production.
• Create and refine toolpaths that balance quality, efficiency, and machine capability.
• Provide manufacturing support by troubleshooting machining issues and adjusting programs as needed.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall machining performance.
• Ensure all programming and machining activities align with aerospace and defense industry standards and requirements.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in Mastercam for CNC programming.
• Hands-on experience with CNC programming and CNC machining operations.
• Experience with 3-axis and 5-axis machining.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Strong understanding and practical application of GD&T.
• Ability to utilize Work Coordinate Systems (WCS) in Mastercam.
• Experience creating and managing toolpaths for complex parts.
• Background in aerospace manufacturing or related precision industries.
• Demonstrated ability to support manufacturing teams with programming and machining expertise.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience planning and writing Standard Manufacturing Routes (SMR) or similar process documentation.
• Familiarity with process improvement methodologies within a machining or manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to defense-related programs or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in a precision manufacturing context.

Work Environment

The role is based in a growing defense program within the aerospace manufacturing sector, where precision, reliability, and adherence to industry standards are critical. You will work closely with machinists, engineers, and production staff, using Mastercam and CNC equipment to support complex 3-axis and 5-axis machining operations. The environment emphasizes continuous improvement, process optimization, and collaboration to meet demanding aerospace and defense requirements.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
