Job Description

General Role Description


The Carpenter is a highly skilled individual with great hand dexterity and a keen eye for detail. The Carpenter is adept in mathematics and taking measurements and calculating the size and amount needed to complete the task assigned in accordance with the specifications. This position strives for continuous improvement with Safety and Quality while working in diverse settings to produce steady and functional infrastructure and products. The individual will also have a passion for continuous improvement, a strong sense of accountability and an ability to partner with the Project Team to optimize Safety, Quality, Schedule, and profitability of the company. This position reports to the Carpenter Foreman/Assistant Superintendent and has direct supervisory responsibilities of the Carpenter Helper and labor.


General



  • Adhere to processes

  • Drive continuous improvement

  • Attend training / developing / coaching and mentoring programs

  • Represent Palace construction in a professional manner


Operations



  • Participate in a Company functions

  • Follow and adhere to procedures, practices, and policies of the department

  • Read drawings and sketches to fully grasp the requirements

  • Perform layout from contract drawings

  • Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed

  • Cut, shape, smooth, and fit lumber and other materials according to measurements

  • Build window frames, doors, staircases, and frame buildings using raw materials or pre‑constructed items

  • Conduct repair work on various structures

  • Install drywall on metal or wood framing members

  • Operate tools, machines, and other equipment

  • Verify field conditions to current drawing sets and specifications

  • Cut and assemble cabinets, shelves, hardware, base, casing, backing and other items and install them where designated

  • Maintain a clean jobsite and lead composite cleanup crews from subcontractors

  • Comply to local building codes, and health and safety regulations

  • Perform punch list items that meet a level of acceptance by own clients

  • Build scaffold and other construction structures

  • Provide excellent customer service

  • Provide leadership to labor on the project teams to assure that tasks are accurate

  • Complete warranty call‑backs and any claims are pro‑actively resolved

  • Have in possession the necessary tools to perform required tasks


Safety & Quality



  • Participate in safety meetings

  • Set the example for the company's safety compliance and procedures

  • Participate in Stretch and Bend Program daily

  • Participate in the STF as needed

  • Assist in the Quality Assurance / Quality Control Plan to ensure project success

  • Assist in maintaining OSHA compliance on jobsite

  • Assist in weekly jobsite safety meetings, both subcontractor and Palace

  • Recognize safety violations and correct immediately
