Job Description

Supervisor, Mechanical Design EngineerAs a supervisor of design engineering, you will lead and guide a team of mechanical design engineers. This team is part of the Engineering Group and provides products to advanced power plant designs including Small Modular Reactors and Generation IV nuclear power plants, as well as existing power plants with decades of experience, in both domestic and international markets. In this role, you will perform a variety of engineering tasks including supporting the engineering department to guide the development of technical solutions for emerging problems. You will do this for our existing products as well as new product development. The position involves working with valves, actuators, and similar mechanical equipment and structures utilized in nuclear power plants.Location: Brea, CASalary: $ 108,900-$145,200Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline only, reflecting a position based in California. Criteria such as the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, the scope of the specific position, as well as market and business considerations will be evaluated when extending an offer.We Take Care of Our PeoplePaid Time Off I 401K with Employer Match and Profit Sharing I Health and Wellness Benefits I Learning and Development Opportunities I Referral Program I Competitive Pay I Recognition I Employee Stock Purchase Plan I Inclusive & Supportive Culture *Your Challenge:What You Bring:Design parts and assemblies for various product lines (e.g. valves, hydraulic assemblies, and actuators)Create schematic, and assembly drawings using Solidworks or AutoCADReview manufacturing drawings for parts and determine manufacturing processes and specify tolerancing requirementsDevelop engineering solutions and proposal documentation for RFQs and RFIsCollaborate with the analysis team on parts or assemblies that require FEA or CFDCommunicate with customers on project and design related challengesRequired travel time is less than 5%What You Bring:12+ years of Mechanical Design experienceKnowledge and experience in industrial and machine designLead roles in product development and put into practice various engineering processes listed below.Understanding of different manufacturing processes: casting, machining, grinding, lapping, additive manufacturing, sheet metal fabrication etc.Proficiency in GD&T and related standards for drawing creationProficiency in engineering processes (e.g. DFMA, DMAIC, FMEA, tolerance stack-up analysis, etc.)In-depth understanding of ASME standards pertaining to valve designProficiency in AutoCAD for layout and schematics is a plusFamiliarity with nuclear industry standards (ASME, ANSI, API, IEEE etc.) is a plusFamiliarity with industrial hydraulics and electrical equipment is a plusFamiliarity with mean time to failure (MTTF) or mean time before failure (MTBF) concepts related to product quality and reliability is a plus
