Base pay range $130,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr

This role is just for US Citizens - You will need at least Public Trust Clearance.

We’re hiring a first-hire AI/ML Engineer for a legal tech company based in Washington, DC (hybrid). This is a hands-on role building intelligent systems that process large volumes of legal and government documents - from scanned PDFs to handwritten records.

This role is about autonomy, ownership, and production-level delivery. You’ll be building the data science function from the ground up.

What you’ll be working on:

Designing and deploying OCR pipelines to handle unstructured and degraded data

Automating redaction of sensitive information (PII, PHI, classified content)

Building LLM-based summarization and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems

Leading end-to-end ML workflows: from preprocessing to deployment

We’re looking for someone who:

Has 2+ years in ML/NLP with experience in OCR or document parsing

Is fluent in Python and frameworks like PyTorch, HuggingFace, LangChain, etc.

Has experience with unstructured data and production-grade deployments

Can lead independently, without waiting to be told what to build
