Role: Senior Java Full Stack Developer

Location: Columbus, OH and Jersey City, NY (5 Days Onsite) Experience: 10+ Years Note: Only Citizens/ H4 EAD Note: This is a CTH (Contract to Hire) after 12-18 months.

Job Description Our client is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer to join its Consumer & Community Banking Technology team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing and building secure, scalable, cloud-native applications using Java and modern engineering practices. This role requires strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, CI/CD, AI-assisted software development, and enterprise application architecture. Required Skills

10+ years of hands-on Java development experience Experience working in Angular/React. Strong expertise in Java 11/17/21, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, and Microservices. Experience designing scalable, highly available, and secure enterprise applications. Strong knowledge of REST APIs, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture. Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerized application deployment. Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, Git, Jenkins, Maven, and automated testing. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and SDLC best practices. Experience implementing secure coding practices and application resiliency. Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar tools to improve development productivity. Strong knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS preferred). Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills. Strong communication and technical leadership skills.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-scale Java applications. Build secure, scalable, and high-performance microservices using Spring Boot. Provide technical leadership and mentor junior developers. Participate in architecture discussions and technical design reviews. Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices. Develop automated testing strategies and CI/CD pipelines. Deploy and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes. Promote AI-assisted engineering practices while ensuring secure, validated, and high-quality code. Collaborate with architects, business analysts, DevOps engineers, QA teams, and product owners throughout the SDLC. Optimize application performance, reliability, and operational stability. Troubleshoot production issues and implement long-term solutions. Contribute to reusable frameworks, engineering standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with GitHub Copilot or other AI-assisted software development tools. AWS Solution Architect or Developer Certification. Experience with Spring Cloud, Kafka, or messaging technologies. Knowledge of observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or Datadog. Experience in Banking or Financial Services. Familiarity with OpenShift or cloud-native application platforms.
