Job Description\nTitle: Senior Software Engineer – Java / AWS Location : DC Metro Area Target Start Date : ASAP Type: contract Pay Rate: DOE\n We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a highly collaborative engineering team supporting large-scale, cloud-based applications. This role is ideal for an experienced backend engineer with deep Java expertise and strong experience building scalable, reliable applications in AWS.\n The ideal candidate brings extensive experience with Java, Spring/Spring Boot, REST APIs, SQL, and AWS, along with working knowledge of Python and/or TypeScript. This individual will contribute to application design and development while collaborating closely with product owners, architects, and other engineers. Responsibilities\n\n Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable, highly available cloud-based applications.\n Collaborate with product owners, architects, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.\n Develop backend applications and services using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.\n Design and integrate RESTful APIs and database solutions.\n Build solutions with a focus on scalability, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.\n Participate in architecture and technical design discussions.\n Evaluate and adopt new technologies and modern engineering practices.\n Mentor engineers and contribute to technical knowledge sharing across the team.\n Support automated testing, continuous integration, and DevOps practices.\n Required Qualifications\n\n Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.\n 10+ years of software engineering experience with significant hands-on Java development.\n Strong Java fundamentals and object-oriented programming experience.\n Strong experience with Spring and Spring Boot.\n Experience designing and developing REST APIs.\n Strong SQL and relational database experience.\n Experience with Python and/or TypeScript.\n Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, databases, and operating systems.\n Experience developing enterprise-scale applications in cloud environments.\n Technical Environment\n\n Java / J2EE\n Spring / Spring Boot\n REST APIs\n SQL / PL/SQL\n PostgreSQL / Aurora\n Python\n TypeScript\n AWS\n Preferred Qualifications\n\n Strong hands-on AWS experience.\n Experience with Docker and containerized applications.\n Experience with Jenkins or similar CI/CD tools.\n Knowledge of DevOps and continuous integration practices.\n Experience building distributed, scalable cloud applications.\n Ability to mentor other engineers and contribute to technical design and architecture.\n\n Welcome to ConsultNet, a premier national provider of technology talent and solutions.
