Job Description

Production Technician IToray Advanced Composites (TAC) is a leading supplier of advanced composite materials for the aerospace, sporting goods, motorsport, and industrial markets. You will find our thermoset composite products on nearly every satellite, space launch vehicle, unmanned aircraft, military and commercial aircraft in production today. TAC also provides composites materials to industrial and recreational applications including mountain bikes, medical prosthetics, and sports equipment.Our thermoplastic prepregs, known in the industry as Cetex®, are found in a wide range of commercial and military aircraft, including large wing structures and interior applications like seats and galleys. Our Cetex products are available in unidirectional tape or fabric form in a variety of engineered thermoplastic resins including PEEK, PPS, PEI as well as a full line of performance thermoplastics including Nylon, PET, HDPE, and PP.Summary Of FunctionsAs a entry level Production Technician I at Toray, the technician will support the production department by assisting the senior level operators. Duties include learning Toray's quality standard by understanding how to check for defects and hourly checks of the machine. Entry technicians, will review the quality process and find quality issues with oversight from senior technicians. Additionally, the technician will package roles, grab resin/required items (TS). As time progresses, the technician should be able to follow detailed instructions and work under close supervision to complete allocated tasks. Tasks would include set up of the machine with full oversight, be able to prioritize routine tasks to improve efficiency and troubleshoot minor production-related issues. Additionally, the technician should be able to follow procedures which include use of personal protection equipment (where relevant) to safeguard yourself, other employees, and the work environment. Entry level Production Technician I, will be trained and expected to dispose of hazmat waste safely and in proper areas.Please note: roles and responsibilities are subject to change with or without advance notice.Major Duties And RequirementsOperations:Follow instructions and work under close supervision to complete the allocated tasks.With oversight, set up and operate machine for advanced composite materialsEscalate equipment and production issues by notifying Lead/SupervisorQuality:Understand how to check for defects on the lineHourly checks of the machineReview/understand the quality process and identify quality issues with senior oversight.SafetyFollow safety procedures for PPE (personal protection equipment)Dispose hazmat waste in proper areaMaintain a clean working environmentOther:Preparation (wrapping and labeling) of the product for processing, loading and unloading product from the equipmentPerform other duties as assigned by Lead/Supervisor or designeeMovement and lifting (approx. 551bs) of materialsExperience And/Or Education RequirementsMinimum of high school diploma or equivalent0 to 1 year of experience working with composites or in a production departmentStrong mechanical aptitudeMath and basic computer skills requiredAbility to convert grams to poundsMust be able to follow written and verbal instructions for machine operationMust be able to communicate clearly (written and verbally) in EnglishAble to work and communicate as a teamMaintain work areas in a neat, orderly and safe mannerMust be capable of lifting up to 55 lbsMust be clean shaven in order to wear PPE/RespiratorExcellent attendance; ability to work overtime, weekends and off shifts when neededHourly rate: $25 - $28/hrToray Advanced Composites employment practices offer equal employment opportunity and does not discriminate against its employees or applicants because of race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, national origin, ancestry, age, marital status, physical or mental disability, medical condition, sexual orientation, or any other basis prohibited by law.
