Appian Technical Lead

Location: Chicago, IL preferred | Denver, CO considered

Initial Contract: Approximately 6–12 months with potential extension and conversion

Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Appian Technical Lead to support the continued development, enhancement, and long-term ownership of an enterprise Appian platform.

This role combines hands-on Appian development and architecture with strong technical leadership and business-facing responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working directly within the platform when needed while also leading stakeholder discussions, solution-design conversations, refinement sessions, and product-roadmap planning.

This individual will serve as a key bridge between business stakeholders and the Appian development team, translating business priorities into scalable technical solutions and helping guide the future direction of the platform.

Responsibilities Provide technical leadership for the design, development, implementation, and enhancement of Appian applications.

Contribute hands-on to Appian development, architecture, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving as needed.

Partner directly with business stakeholders to understand workflows, priorities, pain points, and future-state requirements.

Translate complex business requirements into scalable Appian solutions and technical delivery plans.

Lead business review sessions, sprint-zero activities, backlog refinement, requirements discussions, and product-roadmap conversations.

Serve as a primary liaison between business stakeholders, developers, business analysts, architecture teams, and program leadership.

Represent technical program leadership in stakeholder meetings when needed.

Guide developers on solution design, Appian development standards, architecture decisions, and technical best practices.

Support knowledge transfer and transition of platform ownership from implementation partners to internal teams.

Help establish technical standards, governance practices, and a sustainable operating model for the Appian platform.

Mentor developers and provide technical guidance across the team.

Collaborate with teams supporting integrated enterprise platforms, including Salesforce.

Potentially grow into formal technical-management or people-leadership responsibilities as the team expands.
