Job Description

Construction Manager

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee the post-award management of construction projects valued at less than $45 million. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating project execution from award through closeout, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements. The Construction Manager will support all phases of project delivery, including schedule management, cost estimating, change management, submittal review, RFI coordination, and project documentation. This position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to effectively collaborate with project teams, contractors, architects, engineers, and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage post-award construction projects with estimated construction costs under $45 million.
  • Review and monitor project schedules to ensure timely completion of project milestones.
  • Prepare and review cost estimates, budget forecasts, and financial tracking reports.
  • Manage contract modifications, change orders, and change management processes.
  • Review, coordinate, and track submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and construction records throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Monitor construction progress, quality, and compliance with contract documents and applicable regulations.
  • Identify project risks and develop solutions to minimize schedule delays and cost impacts.
  • Prepare project status reports and communicate project progress to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and industry best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in one of the following: Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related technical field. Education Requirement May Be Waived With: Professional Engineer (PE) license, Registered Architect (RA) license.
  • Minimum 10 years of related Construction Management experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of Construction Management experience overseeing commercial, industrial, federal, or government construction projects.
  • Experience managing post-award construction activities including: Schedule reviews, Cost estimating, Change management, Submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), Project documentation.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, project controls, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Candidates should possess one or more of the following: Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Project Management Professional (PMP), PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP), Professional Engineer (PE), Registered Architect (RA).
  • Candidates with a minimum of 10 years of Construction Management experience may be considered in lieu of the listed certifications where applicable.
  • Work Locations: Positions may be available at military installations throughout the National Capital Region, including Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. Potential locations include NSA Washington, NSA Bethesda, NSA Annapolis, NSF Indian Head, NSF Dahlgren, NAS Patuxent River, Joint Base Andrews, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, NSF Thurmont, and MCB Quantico. Specific location will vary based on project needs.
