Job Summary

Moon Valley Nurseries is seeking a dependable and experienced CDL Class A Transfer Driver to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for safe driving, a strong work ethic, and excellent customer service skills. As a Transfer Driver, you will be responsible for transporting trees and plants between our nursery locations, ensuring timely delivery and exceptional care of our products.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely operate and maneuver company-owned vehicles, including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport trees and plants between nursery locations and customer sites.
• Adhere to all applicable traffic laws, regulations, and company policies while operating commercial vehicles.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance.
• Secure cargo properly using straps, chains, and other appropriate methods to prevent damage during transit.
• Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery logs.
• Provide exceptional customer service, including courteous interaction with customers and timely delivery of orders.
• Collaborate with nursery staff to load and unload trees and plants safely and efficiently.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and other team members to coordinate delivery schedules and address any issues or concerns.

Qualifications

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Minimum of 5 years of commercial driving experience, preferably in a similar role.
• Valid CDL Class A driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Knowledge of FMCSA regulations and compliance standards for commercial vehicles.
• Ability to safely operate tractor-trailer combinations and other heavy equipment.
• Excellent driving skills, including the ability to maneuver vehicles in tight spaces and adverse weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety at all times.
• Customer-focused mindset with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, climb ladders, and perform other physical tasks as needed.
• Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including weekends and holidays, as required.
• Other duties as assigned

Education

Highschool Diploma or equivalent experience

Physical requirements/Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally exchange information with colleagues, managers and vendors. The position is active and may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day. The employee must frequently reach for, pull, lift, and/or move items weighing up to and over 15 lbs. The employee must be able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in possibly extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
