Title: Senior GCP Data Platform Engineer
Locations: Phoenix,AZ
Duration: 06+ Months with Possible Extension.
Pay Range: $44-$46/Hour on W2/C2C (All inclusive)
We are seeking a Senior GCP Data Platform Engineer with strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), data engineering, cloud databases, and infrastructure automation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building and supporting enterprise-scale data platforms using GCP services, modern data processing frameworks, containerization technologies, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC). This role focuses on designing, optimizing, and maintaining highly available, scalable, and secure cloud database and data engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-scale data engineering solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Build and manage data pipelines using Apache Airflow, Spark, Cloud Composer, Dataflow, and Dataproc .
Administer and optimize GCP database services including Cloud SQL, BigQuery, and Cloud Spanner .
Perform database administration activities including schema design, query optimization, performance tuning, backup, recovery, and troubleshooting for MySQL and PostgreSQL.
Design and support OLTP and OLAP database architectures for high-performance data processing.
Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform .
Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, Helm , and platforms such as GKE, OpenShift, AKS, or EKS .
Configure and manage GCP networking, Private Service Connect, IAM roles, policies, and service accounts.
Automate infrastructure provisioning and operational tasks using Python and Shell scripting .
Troubleshoot application connectivity, database performance, and cloud infrastructure issues.
Collaborate with application development teams to optimize Java-based applications (Spring, Hibernate, JPA, connection pooling).
Evaluate emerging database technologies through Proof of Concepts (POCs) and drive successful production implementations.
Implement cloud security, monitoring, and operational best practices across the GCP ecosystem.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
6-10+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, Data Engineering, Database Administration, or GCP Platform Engineering.
Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform services.
Deep expertise in Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Cloud Spanner , and GCP data services.
Extensive experience with Apache Spark, Airflow, Cloud Composer, Dataflow, and Dataproc .
Advanced knowledge of MySQL and PostgreSQL administration and performance optimization.
Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, Helm , and GKE/OpenShift.
Strong scripting experience in Python, Shell, and Terraform .
Knowledge of GCP IAM, networking, Private Service Connect, and cloud security.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
