PCU Registered Nurse (RN)Unit: 4th Floor East Wing Unit Type: Stepdown Level of Care: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Number of Beds: 55 Patient Population: Adults and occasional pediatrics (15 years and older)Shift Length: 12 hours Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Shift Times: 0630-1830, 1830-0630 Weekend Requirements: Every other weekendYears of Experience: 2 Years Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification, NIHSS Required Competencies: Telemetry Driver's license required for verification of radius ruleRN Ratio (Days): 1:4 RN Ratio (Nights): 1:4 Nursing Assistant Support: Available Charge Nurse: Yes Additional Support Staff: Educator, Care Managers, Social Workers, Dieticians, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy Common Patient Diagnoses: CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, COVID-19, subdural hematoma, weakness Common Drips/Medications: PCA pumps for pain management, Cardizem, Insulin Specialty Equipment: Mechanical lifts in every other roomUnit Challenges: Staffing issues may arise, and adaptability is essential. Patient Experience Focus: Emphasis on hourly rounding and timely responsiveness to patient needs. The ideal candidate for this unit will be able to efficiently manage the day-to-day operations and seamlessly collaborate with a cohesive team that prioritizes mutual support.
