Senior Software Engineer (Enterprise Applications)Location: Washington, DC (100% On-Site) Clearance: Active Top Secret requiredOverview: We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support the development and sustainment of enterprise-level applications in a highly secure federal environment. This role is responsible for contributing to large-scale software initiatives that support mission-critical operations, including data-intensive systems and advanced analytical capabilities. The ideal candidate brings strong experience delivering robust applications in complex environments, with the ability to contribute across the full software development lifecycle and collaborate effectively within a structured engineering team.Key Responsibilities:Design, develop, test, and support enterprise application components within a secure IT environmentEnhance and maintain existing systems by modifying code and implementing new capabilitiesIntegrate third-party tools, libraries, and services into custom applicationsContribute to development efforts involving large-scale data processing and analytics-driven applicationsParticipate in full SDLC activities, including planning, requirements analysis, development, testing, and quality assuranceSupport application deployment processes and ensure solutions meet performance, scalability, and reliability requirementsRecommend and implement process improvements and automation strategies for system operations and maintenanceCollaborate with technical leadership and architecture teams to align development with systems design and engineering standardsParticipate in code reviews, design discussions, and milestone evaluationsContribute to knowledge sharing and support development best practices across the teamRequired Qualifications:Active Top Secret clearanceBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, OR equivalent experience8+ years of experience in software development and application engineeringStrong understanding of application design, development, testing, and deployment practicesExperience integrating external components and services into enterprise applicationsProven ability to enhance and maintain existing codebases in large environmentsExperience supporting or building data-intensive or analytics-focused applicationsStrong knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skillsStrong communication and collaboration abilities within cross-functional teamsPreferred Qualifications:Experience working within structured development environments under technical or architectural leadershipFamiliarity with code review processes, architecture discussions, and development governanceExperience with resource estimation, development planning, and delivery coordinationAbility to mentor junior developers and contribute to team knowledge transfer and growthWhat Makes a Strong Candidate:Experience delivering large-scale, enterprise-grade applications from development through deploymentStrong ability to balance technical execution with process improvement and system optimizationComfortable working in high-security, compliance-driven environmentsAbility to contribute to both hands-on development and strategic engineering discussions
