Salary: $150,000 - $180,000 Base Salary + Bonus Potential

Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Controller to support one of their largest operating divisions.

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Controller to lead all accounting and finance activities for a growing construction operations division. This highly visible leadership role partners closely with Division Management, Project Managers, and Senior Leadership to drive financial performance, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure accurate financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, project-based accounting, and financial leadership within a fast-paced operating environment.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the senior finance partner to Division Leadership, providing financial guidance and strategic insight.

Oversee all accounting functions, including:

Accounts Payable

Accounts Receivable

Payroll

Job Cost Accounting

Prepare and review monthly financial statements, forecasts, budgets, and WIP schedules.

Analyze project profitability, cost trends, and operational performance metrics.

Partner with Project Managers to review cost reports, identify variances, and mitigate project risks.

Ensure timely and accurate project billing and support project closeout activities.

Develop and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance procedures.

Prepare financial reporting packages and presentations for executive leadership.

Lead annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes.

Support cash flow management and working capital initiatives.

Oversee subcontractor compliance, including insurance certificates, lien waivers, and contract documentation.

Develop and mentor accounting staff while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

5+ years of Controller or Assistant Controller experience within construction, engineering, utility, infrastructure, or project-based services.

Strong knowledge of:

Construction Accounting

Job Costing

Percentage of Completion Accounting

Work-in-Progress (WIP) Reporting

Experience partnering directly with operations and field leadership.

Advanced Excel and ERP systems experience.

Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Base salary of $150,000 - $180,000
