Manufacture Engineering InternHermeus is a venture-backed defense aviation company reclaiming the lost art of rapid iterative prototyping to build the fastest aircraft in the world today. We work with the Department of War to provide the high-speed capabilities our nation and its allies need to maintain a durable, asymmetric advantage.About The Role:Hermeus is seeking talented students to join our Manufacture Engineering team in Los Angeles to support improvement initiatives to expand in-house manufacturing capabilities and contribute to the design, build, and testing of flight and critical ground support hardware.Spring: Around 16 weeks (January - April)Summer: Around 12 weeks (May - August)Fall: Around 16 weeks (September - December)Responsibilities:Evaluate designs for manufacturability and testing, providing feedback to design teamDesign and implement tooling and test solutions where appropriate, to support component build and deliveryDevelop new processes and procedures to support flight hardware buildsManage projects and execute to tight timelines while effectively and proactively communicating with stakeholdersProvide data-driven solutions to technical issues encountered during buildActively interface with technician and engineering teams to resolve product non-conformances and keep build on scheduleDevelop and refine floor layoutsSupport capacity modeling and time studies to identify and prioritize opportunities for process improvementCollaborate with other engineers, subject matter experts, and technicians to solve large-scale and widespread production challengesRequirements:Practical experience designing, building, and testing vehicles through internships, studies or projects.Must be currently enrolled in a STEM program at an accredited college or university (undergraduate student in your third or fourth year of study, or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program).Strong interest in vehicle hardware.Strong understanding of engineering first principles.Demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams.Enthusiasm for aviation and Hermeus's mission.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.GPA of 3.0 or above.$25 - $33 an hourThe hourly rate listed for this internship is intended as a general guideline.
