Accounting Manager

Job Description

Accounting Manager

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead a high-performing Reconciliation Center of Excellence (COE) team responsible for enterprise-wide reconciliation and operational accounting activities. This role oversees suspense, cash, and other transitory account reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of outstanding items, strong financial controls, and effective risk management across multiple business units.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong accounting foundation, leadership experience, and a proven ability to manage complex reconciliation processes in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be able to work onsite in Newport Beach four days per week and lead a local team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage daily reconciliation operations across suspense, cash, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Supervise, develop, and mentor a team of accounting professionals.
  • Review aging items, investigate complex reconciling differences, and drive timely resolution.
  • Partner with Accounting, Treasury, Operations, Technology, Tax, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve process issues.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close activities, audits, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Monitor reconciliation performance metrics and service level expectations.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and lead system and operational enhancements.
  • Escalate risks and issues appropriately while driving sustainable solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting or reconciliation experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong expertise in account reconciliations, suspense accounts, and operational accounting.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Experience supporting audits, internal controls, and compliance activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in large corporate or shared services environments.
  • Background supporting process improvement, automation, or transformation initiatives.
  • Knowledge of financial systems and reconciliation platforms.
