Job Summary

S&S Paving & Construction is seeking a dependable and hardworking Construction Laborer to assist with paving, grading, excavation, concrete, and general site construction activities. The ideal candidate will work as part of a crew to complete projects safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards. This position requires physical labor, the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and a strong commitment to teamwork and safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with asphalt paving, patching, milling, and roadway construction projects.
• Perform site preparation, grading, excavation, and cleanup activities.
• Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment.
• Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
• Assist equipment operators, foremen, and other crew members as needed.
• Set up and maintain traffic control devices and work zone safety measures.
• Shovel, rake, compact, and spread asphalt, gravel, and other materials.
• Clean and maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Perform general labor duties and other tasks assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous construction, paving, or outdoor labor experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to read and follow instructions and safety guidelines.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attendance record.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
• CDL is a plus but not required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
• Ability to work outdoors in hot, cold, and wet weather conditions.
• Ability to work extended hours, evenings, or weekends as project demands require.

Working Conditions

• Primarily outdoors at construction and paving job sites.
• Exposure to moving machinery, dust, noise, and changing weather conditions.
• Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
