We are looking for a strong,hands-on Architect / Technical Architect to join a client team. This role isideal for an experienced engineering leader who combines strong technicalfundamentals with practical problem-solving, solution design, hands-on coding, and end-to-end ownership.
The client is open toconsidering strong Tech Lead candidates who demonstrate Architect-levelthinking, technical depth, and the ability to independently own and drivesolutions. The title is less important than the candidate's actual capabilitiesand impact.
Key Responsibilities
Own and drive end-to-end technical solutions, fromproblem understanding through design and implementation.
Design scalable, maintainable, and practical softwaresolutions aligned with business requirements.
Participate in and lead system architecture andsolution design discussions.
Demonstrate strong hands-on engineering skills andparticipate in coding and whiteboard coding exercises.
Analyze complex technical problems, identify rootcauses, and propose practical solutions.
Ask the right questions to clarify requirements, constraints, and trade-offs before proposing solutions.
Evaluate technical alternatives and clearly articulatearchitectural decisions and their rationale.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to theengineering team.
Collaborate effectively with technical and businessstakeholders.
Take ownership of technical outcomes rather thanlimiting responsibility to a specific component or layer.
Present technical solutions, architecture, andrecommendations clearly and confidently to stakeholders.
Required Technical Skills
Data Structures & Algorithms
Strong understanding of fundamental data structures and algorithms.
Ability to reason through problems and explain theselected approach.
Comfortable solving technical problems through whiteboard coding.
Database Concepts
Strong understanding of database fundamentals, including:
Relational database concepts
Query optimization fundamentals
Transactions and concurrency
Data consistency and integrity
Performance considerations
Core Engineering Fundamentals
Strong software engineering fundamentals, with a solid understanding of:
Object-oriented design and programming principles
Clean and maintainable code
API and service design
Scalability and performance
Reliability and fault tolerance
Security fundamentals
Strong experience in solution architecture and system design, with the ability to design systems considering:
Operational considerations
Ability to explain architectural trade-offs and justifydesign decisions.
Problem-Solving & Engineering Mindset
The ideal candidate shoulddemonstrate a structured and independent approach to problem solving. Duringtechnical discussions, the candidate should be able to:
Understand and decompose ambiguous problems.
Identify assumptions, constraints, and dependencies.
Explain trade-offs clearly.
Arrive at practical and implementable solutions.
Think independently rather than relying solely onpredefined processes or instructions.
Take ownership of the outcome from problem definitionthrough implementation.
Strong communication andexecutive presence are critical for this role. The candidate shoulddemonstrate:
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Strong presentation and storytelling skills.
Confidence when communicating with technical andnon-technical stakeholders.
Clear and structured thinking.
Ability to articulate complex technical concepts in asimple and understandable manner.
Ability to explain and defend technical andarchitectural decisions.
Strong collaboration and stakeholder-management skills.
Ability to influence technical direction through soundreasoning and technical credibility.
Preferred Candidate Profile
We particularly value candidateswho have worked in small organizations, start-ups, or product-focusedenvironments, where they have had significant hands-on responsibility andend-to-end ownership. The preferred candidate is someone who has:
Worked across multiple layers of a technology stack.
Personally contributed to architecture andimplementation.
Taken ownership of complete solutions rather than onlyindividual components.
Worked in environments requiring independentdecision-making.
Demonstrated the ability to move between architecture, design, coding, troubleshooting, and technical leadership.
Candidates whose experience isprimarily limited to large-enterprise environments with narrowly definedresponsibilities may not be the best fit.
Level Flexibility
The client is open to strongTech Lead candidates who can demonstrate:
Architect-level technical thinking.
End-to-end ownership.
Strong communication and stakeholder presence.
Ability to make and defend architectural decisions.
Architect title/previousdesignation is not the primary consideration; demonstrated capability is.
The client is currently in anexperimental/trial phase and is evaluating the right technical profile andscope for the role. Therefore, the exact responsibilities may evolve based onthe candidate's strengths and the needs of the team.
The successful candidate shouldbe comfortable operating in an environment where priorities andresponsibilities may be flexible and where ownership, adaptability, andtechnical judgment are highly valued.
Ideal Candidate at a Glance
The strongest candidates willdemonstrate a combination of:
Strong technical fundamentals
Hands-on coding ability
Practical problem-solving
End-to-end ownership
Independent thinking
Strong communication and presentation skills
Architect-level technical judgment
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-movingenvironment
Interview Focus
Candidates should be preparedfor discussions and exercises covering:
Data Structures & Algorithms
Core Software Engineering Concepts
Architecture Trade-offs
Real-world Problem Solving
Technical Communication & Presentation
Ownership and Leadership Scenarios
This is a hands-on Architectrole—not a purely conceptual architecture or management position.
