Job Description

NETWORK ENGINEER

Location (city, state): Columbia, TN

Type: 6 month Contract to Hire

Compensation: $90-120K (associate-mid level)

Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).

Work Schedule: Onsite for the duration of the contract, with flexibile hybrid schedule long-term

Qualifications:

Support for network operations and infrastructure upgrades

Cisco Meraki and switching exposure

Assist with end-of-life switch replacements

Preferred but not required:

Support for wireless, firewall, and connectivity initiatives

Single-mode fiber experience

Palo Alto, Webex, and VoIP exposure

Job Description:

We are looking for a Junior Network Engineer to join a growing network team supporting a major infrastructure modernization initiative. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their networking career who wants to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in an enterprise environment while working alongside experienced network engineers.

This person will assist with daily network operations, infrastructure upgrades, and a large-scale switch replacement initiative. You’ll have the opportunity to build your skills across switching, wireless, firewalls, connectivity, and other network technologies while receiving guidance and mentorship from senior members of the team.

What You’ll Be Doing

Assist with the ongoing maintenance and support of enterprise network infrastructure.

Help monitor and troubleshoot network connectivity issues across the environment.

Work alongside senior engineers during infrastructure upgrades and network improvement projects.

Support the replacement of aging switches as part of a broader hardware refresh initiative.

Assist with configuring and maintaining Cisco Meraki networking equipment.

Provide support for wireless networking projects and connectivity improvements.

Gain hands-on exposure to firewall-related tasks and basic network security configuration.

Assist with troubleshooting network hardware, connectivity, and infrastructure issues.

Participate in network modernization projects from planning through implementation.

Work closely with senior engineers to learn enterprise networking best practices and develop stronger technical skills.

Help document network changes, troubleshooting activities, and infrastructure updates.

Take on additional responsibilities as technical knowledge and experience grow.

What We’re Looking For

Some professional, internship, academic, or hands-on experience supporting network infrastructure or network operations.

Exposure to Cisco Meraki and/or network switching.

Understanding of fundamental networking concepts and troubleshooting.

Interest in building a career in network engineering.

Comfortable working onsite and collaborating closely with senior technical team members.

Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.

Ability to follow established procedures while developing the confidence to troubleshoot issues independently.

Preferred Experience

The following are nice to have but not required:

Experience supporting wireless networking environments.

CCNA certification

Familiarity with Palo Alto firewall administration or network security.

Experience working with single-mode fiber.

Exposure to Webex, VoIP, or related communications technologies.

Previous experience participating in a switch replacement, hardware refresh, or infrastructure upgrade.
