Software Engineering ManagerWe are seeking an experienced and results-driven Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of software engineers in designing, developing, testing, and delivering high-quality software solutions. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with proven people-management and leadership skills.The Software Engineering Manager will be responsible for setting technical direction, managing engineering resources, driving development initiatives, and partnering with Product, QA, DevOps, Architecture, and other business stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure applications.Key ResponsibilitiesLead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.Manage the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.Establish engineering priorities, development plans, timelines, and resource requirements in partnership with Product and business leadership.Provide technical leadership and participate in architectural and design decisions.Review code, technical designs, and development practices to ensure quality, scalability, maintainability, and security.Drive adoption of modern software engineering practices, development methodologies, automation, and DevOps principles.Monitor project progress, identify risks and dependencies, and proactively resolve technical and organizational challenges.Partner with Product Management to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.Establish and track engineering KPIs related to productivity, quality, reliability, delivery, and operational performance.Recruit, onboard, coach, and retain high-performing engineering talent.Conduct performance reviews and establish professional development plans for team members.Manage engineering budgets, vendors, contractors, and third-party technology partners as required.Promote best practices around testing, documentation, security, performance, and system reliability.Help establish and maintain engineering standards, processes, and governance.Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate their potential application to the organization's technology strategy.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.7+ years of professional software development experience.2+ years of experience managing or leading software engineering teams.Strong understanding of software architecture, application development, APIs, databases, cloud technologies, and distributed systems.Experience with modern programming languages and development frameworks.Experience working with Agile/Scrum or similar software development methodologies.Demonstrated experience delivering complex software projects from concept through production.Strong understanding of CI/CD, automated testing, source control, and DevOps practices.Excellent problem-solving, communication, organizational, and leadership skills.Ability to balance hands-on technical involvement with people and project management responsibilities.Preferred QualificationsExperience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.Experience managing distributed or geographically diverse engineering teams.Experience with microservices, APIs, event-driven architecture, and containerization.Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, or similar technologies.Experience with modern observability, monitoring, and application performance tools.Experience in cybersecurity, data privacy, and secure software development practices.Experience working in high-growth or enterprise technology environments.Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.Leadership CompetenciesThe successful candidate will demonstrate:Technical Leadership – Ability to make sound architectural and engineering decisions.People Leadership – Ability to build, motivate, coach, and retain strong engineering teams.Strategic Thinking – Ability to align technology initiatives with business objectives.Execution – Strong track record of delivering projects on time and within scope.Communication – Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.Collaboration – Ability to build strong partnerships across Product, Engineering, Operations, and executive leadership.Continuous Improvement – Commitment to improving engineering processes, technology, quality, and team performance.Success in This RoleSuccess will be measured by the team's ability to consistently deliver high-quality software, improve engineering productivity and reliability, develop strong engineering talent, and align technology execution with the organization's strategic and business objectives.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender, identity, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
