If you’re an experienced Project Manager with a background in automation, controls, utilities, or water/wastewater, this is an opportunity to take genuine ownership of projects from kickoff through closeout.
This is a great opportunity for a Project Manager who enjoys being close to the customer, owning the commercial side of projects, and taking responsibility for delivery from kickoff through closeout. You’ll be managing projects across utilities and industrial automation, working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Field Services, OT/Cyber, vendors and customers to make sure everything comes together.
What you’ll be doing This is a genuine project ownership position. You’ll take responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, risk and customer communication, while making sure projects are delivered safely, on time and profitably.
You’ll be responsible for:
Developing project plans, schedules, budgets and WBS
Managing project changes, risks and issues
Leading internal and external project meetings
Managing customer relationships and expectations
Coordinating Engineering, Manufacturing, Logistics and Field Services
Managing vendors, subcontractors and procurement
Tracking project financials, margin, cash flow and delivery KPIs
Managing invoicing milestones and project closeout
Taking ownership when challenges arise and driving them through to resolution
Projects can range from approximately $20K to $10M+, with experienced Project Managers managing significant portfolios across multiple projects.
What we’re looking for We’re looking for someone with 7+ years of project management experience, ideally within utilities, industrial automation or a similar technical environment. You don’t need to be a controls programmer or the person designing the system. What matters is that you’re technically credible enough to understand the environment, manage technical teams and have confident conversations with customers.
A background in engineering, automation, controls, electrical, water/wastewater or utilities would be highly relevant.
You’ll also need to be comfortable with:
Project scheduling tools such as MS Project or Primavera
Financial and budget tracking
Contract and change management
Managing multiple projects and competing priorities
Working with technical and field-based teams
Communicating directly with customers and stakeholders
This role will suit someone who takes ownership.
You’ll need to be resilient, commercially aware and comfortable dealing with difficult situations. When a project hits a problem, you’re the person who gets in front of it, communicates with the customer and works with the internal team to find the solution.
If you’re a technically minded Project Manager who enjoys customer interaction, understands the numbers behind a project and wants genuine ownership over delivery, this could be a very strong fit.
