Our client is a well-established publicly traded technology company in the Dallas-Fort Worth area that is entering an exciting stage of growth and transformation. The organization operates in a highly relevant, rapidly evolving industry and works with both commercial and government customers. This is a lean organization where accounting and finance have significant visibility across the business. The company is continuing to invest in its infrastructure, processes and growth strategy, creating an opportunity for the Corporate Controller to make a meaningful impact rather than simply maintain an existing accounting function. The Controller will work closely with an experienced executive leadership team and have direct exposure to senior management while helping support the company's continued evolution as a publicly traded organization.

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Corporate Controller to lead the accounting and financial reporting functions for a publicly traded organization. This position will report directly to the CFO and currently oversee two accounting professionals. The ideal candidate will have strong public-company accounting experience and be comfortable operating in a lean environment where they can provide leadership while remaining actively involved in the details. Responsibilities will include:

• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual close processes
• Own financial statement preparation and reporting
• Lead SEC reporting, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
• Research and resolve complex technical accounting matters
• Lead SOX 404(a) compliance and internal controls over financial reporting
• Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures and documentation
• Coordinate external audits and serve as a primary contact for external auditors
• Oversee general ledger accounting, revenue recognition, AP, AR, payroll and related accounting functions
• Manage and develop accounting staff
• Oversee tax compliance and coordinate with external tax advisors
• Manage treasury, cash forecasting, banking relationships and liquidity planning
• Participate in budgeting, forecasting and long-range financial planning
• Prepare financial analysis and actual-to-budget reporting
• Partner with leadership on pricing, contracts, cost management and other business decisions
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and system efficiencies
• Remain hands-on and willing to assist with day-to-day accounting activities as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• CPA required
• Public company experience required
• SEC reporting experience required
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Leadership experience within an accounting function
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP
• Experience with SOX and internal controls
• Public accounting experience strongly preferred
• Previous Controller or similar accounting leadership experience preferred
• Comfortable working within a small, lean accounting environment
• Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
