An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a transformative data platform initiative within a top-tier global investment firm. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineering leader who excels in building scalable, reliable, and adaptable data pipelines while mentoring a dynamic team. Embedded within the investment team, you will play a pivotal role in reimagining the firm's data architecture, leveraging cutting-edge tools and modern design principles to enhance operational efficiency and investment strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess existing data systems to identify short-term fixes, mid-term priorities, and long-term improvements.
• Build strong relationships with internal teams, including Data Integration and Analysis, Data Platform Engineering, and key investment stakeholders.
• Modernize legacy processes by utilizing new data platform foundations and transitional architectures.
• Develop and implement scalable, maintainable, and efficient data pipelines using modern technologies like Apache Arrow, Polars, and Dagster.
• Establish a clear responsibility matrix within the team, fostering ownership, collaboration, and accountability.
• Mentor and upskill team members to adapt to evolving demands, while expanding the team's capabilities as needed.
• Map the data landscape to ensure seamless integration of new pipelines with legacy systems.
• Collaborate with the Data Integration team to refine architecture and accelerate prototyping and deployment.
• Transition critical processes to modern platforms, prioritizing data quality, performance, and operational excellence.
• Oversee a variety of data sets, including benchmarks, holdings, and financial performance, while managing vendor relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Mathematics, Science, or Engineering; an advanced degree is a plus.
• 10-15 years of experience in quantitative finance, data management, or a tech-driven environment.
• In-depth knowledge of modern data architectures and pipelines, including Medallion architecture, data lakehouse, composable data systems, and microservices.
• Familiarity with Data Mesh architecture and decentralized data management principles.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire, mentor, and manage distributed teams across global offices.
• Strong expertise in building scalable, reliable systems that align with broader investment processes and deliver measurable impact.
• Experience designing support models that meet consumer SLAs, with an understanding of the demands of a 24/7 data environment.
