Controller Position

CooperDouglas is partnering with a highly respected, 100% employee-owned construction subcontractor in the South Bay to hire its next Controller. This company has delivered large-scale housing projects across Southern California and built a team that stays for the long haul. This construction company is looking for a hands-on Controller who will lead the accounting team, sharpen the month-end close, and help shape the next chapter, including a future accounting system upgrade. Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop an accounting team of ten, building strong GAAP and accrual accounting skills
• Own the full month-end close process and drive a faster, cleaner close
• Oversee the general ledger, journal entries, account reconciliations and financial statements
• Manage construction accounting including job costing, WIP schedules and project financial reporting
• Lead the annual audit and serve as the primary contact for external auditors
• Partner with operations on project financials, including prevailing wage projects
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies and procedures
• Serve as a key player in evaluating and implementing a new ERP / accounting system
• Act as the right hand to the CFO on all day-to-day accounting matters

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
• 810+ years of progressive accounting experience, including construction accounting
• Construction subcontractor or general contractor experience strongly preferredStrong command of US GAAP, the general ledger and month-end close
• Proven experience supervising, training and mentoring accounting staff
• Foundation Software and Procore experience a plus
• Prevailing wage experience a plus
• CPA welcome but not required

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation of $175,000 $200,000 Benefits are 100% paid by the company including family 401K 100% ESOP
