Overview

Performs a variety of administrative, and secretarial tasks for the department head. Establishes and maintains efficient, orderly and effective clerical procedures and timely flow of communication through the Department.

Responsibilities

• Assists in developing, reviewing, and updating departmental policies and procedures to meet regulatory, safety, quality, and compliance standards.
• Manages departmental budgets, monitors reports, maintains attendance, processes payroll requests, and provides timekeeper coverage as needed.
• Oversees onboarding checklists, orients new employees, arranges staff coverage for the Psychiatric Emergency Room, and manages moonlighting shifts.
• Plans, organizes, and supervises clerical functions; responds to daily operational issues and investigates/resolves departmental complaints.
• Schedules and coordinates meetings, conferences, and supervisor’s calendar; prepares purchase orders, check requests, reimbursements, and maintains records.
• Performs charge release, prior authorizations, and billing inquiry resolution to ensure timely and accurate billing processes.

Qualifications

• High School graduation or equivalent; 1-2 years of college preferred.
• 3-5 years of secretarial and managerial experience, preferably in a hospital setting required.
• Typing: 55 wpm (tested).
• Must pass test demonstrating proficiency in Word Perfect or Word.
• Knowledge of medical terminology required.
• Shorthand, fast longhand, or ability to transcribe dictation from Dictaphone required.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.

Pay Range

USD $50,817.00 - USD $63,522.00 /Yr.
