This opportunity demands a robust full-stack engineering skill set and extensive expertise with AWS ecosystems. You will work collaboratively with product teams, architects, and claims operations to design and deliver scalable, secure, and user-friendly solutions that elevate customer experience, streamline claim processing, and boost operational efficiency for thousands of users. If you're passionate about full-stack development and eager to innovate the future of claims technology, we want to hear from you!Qualifications:Full-stack software development experience, with strong backend/service engineering capabilitiesStrong proficiency in at least one of: Java (Spring Boot), TypeScript/Node.js, or Python, with the ability to work across the others as neededStrong understanding of distributed systems concepts, including reliability, failure modes, retries/timeouts, idempotency, and eventual consistencyProficiency building and operating solutions on AWS, including several of the following: Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB and/or RDS, S3, SNS/SQS, CloudWatch, Secrets Manager, and IAMExperience designing and maintaining REST APIs, including versioning, backward compatibility, and API contractsExperience with event-driven integration patterns, including queues/topics, DLQs, and replay/backfill considerationsExperience with containers and deployment on Kubernetes/OpenShift (ROSA), including deployments, services/ingress, configuration/secrets, and rollout strategiesExperience with CI/CD and release management practices using GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or similar, including safe rollout and rollback strategiesDemonstrated experience using AI-assisted developer tooling (e.g., GitHub Copilot) and LLMs to accelerate coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and other software engineering workflowsAbility to support production systems, including debugging, log/trace interpretation, incident triage, and effective collaboration across teamsStrong object-oriented programming (OOP) and service design fundamentals, with the ability to translate complex operational needs into maintainable designsExcellent analytical, communication, and documentation skillsExperience designing, building, or operating custom AI agents, agentic development workflows, or Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers/integrationsObservability tooling experience, including CloudWatch and DynatraceSecurity/IAM and PII-handling experience, including least privilege, encryption, secrets management, and auditabilityLegacy modernization and migration experience, including strangler patterns, cutover planning, and migration/backfill strategiesExperience supporting single-page applications (SPA) and front-end integration patterns; Angular familiarity is a plusOur Benefits:Because work-life balance is a priority at State Farm, compensation is based on our standard 38:45-hour work week!Potential starting salary range: $110,000 - $140,000Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experienceHigh end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experiencePotential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salaryAt State Farm, we offer more than just a paycheck.
