SFC Developer / Manufacturing Systems Developer

Job Description

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced SFC Developer / Manufacturing Systems Developer to develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance our manufacturing SFC/MES systems.

This is a developer-level position. The primary focus is code-level analysis, software development, database changes, API development, system-logic analysis, debugging, and permanent resolution of complex SFC issues.

The ideal candidate has strong Java, Oracle/PLSQL, software troubleshooting, and logical problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand the relationship between manufacturing processes, application logic, and database data.

The position will work closely with the SFC development team, onsite IT, IE, PE, QA, manufacturing, and other technical teams. Chinese-speaking ability is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

1. SFC Development & Troubleshooting

Develop, maintain, enhance, and support SFC/MES applications.

Perform source-code analysis, debugging, and system-logic analysis to identify root causes.

Troubleshoot complex production issues using application logs, source code, APIs, database records, and manufacturing-process analysis.

Implement permanent software fixes rather than temporary workarounds.

Develop new functions and modify existing SFC functionality.

Support the continued development of the SFC platform, with a primary focus on Java-based technologies.

2. Database & API Development

Develop and maintain Oracle SQL/PLSQL, including:

Stored procedures

Functions

Packages

Queries

Analyze production data and perform controlled data corrections when required.

Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot REST APIs and system integrations.

Analyze application, API, and database interactions to resolve system issues.

3. Manufacturing System Knowledge

Develop a strong understanding of SFC/MES processes, including:

Work orders and routing

Station/process control

Serial number tracking

Material traceability

Quality control

Repair/rework

Production tracking and testing

Packing and shipment

Understand how manufacturing processes are translated into application logic, database transactions, and system controls.

4. Collaboration & Deployment

Work closely with the SFC development team to resolve complex technical issues.

Collaborate with IT, IE, PE, QA, manufacturing, and other technical teams.

Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment, and production validation.

Document system logic, root causes, corrective actions, and permanent fixes.

Support production issues when software-level intervention is required.

Required Qualifications

Strong professional experience in Java software development.

Strong Oracle Database and SQL/PLSQL experience.

Experience with one or more of:

Spring Boot

MyBatis

Java Web / Servlet

REST APIs

Backend development

Strong source-code analysis, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.

Strong logical thinking and structured problem-solving ability.

Ability to understand complex application logic and unfamiliar source code.

Good understanding of relational databases, transactions, stored procedures, and data integrity.

Ability to work independently and collaborate with distributed development teams.

Strong ownership and responsibility for production system stability.

Chinese-speaking ability strongly preferred.

Education & Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field preferred.

Equivalent education combined with strong relevant software development experience may be considered.

Relevant certifications in Java, Oracle/SQL/PLSQL, Spring/Spring Boot, software engineering, database development, Linux, MES, or SFC technologies are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with SFC, MES, manufacturing execution, or shop-floor systems.

Experience in electronics or high-volume manufacturing.

Understanding of SMT, assembly, testing, repair/rework, and packing processes.

Experience with manufacturing databases and production data analysis.

Experience with REST APIs and system integrations.

Experience with Git/version control and software deployment.

Linux and/or Windows application experience.

Delphi/Pascal experience is a plus

, particularly for supporting legacy SFC modules, but is not a primary requirement. Future SFC development will primarily be Java-based.

Key Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a software engineer, not simply an onsite support specialist.

The candidate should be able to:

Read and understand existing source code.

Analyze application architecture and system logic.

Trace issues from the manufacturing process through application code and database transactions.

Identify root causes using logs, source code, APIs, and database data.

Make appropriate code, database, or API changes.

Test, deploy, and validate permanent solutions.

Quickly learn complex SFC functionality.

Take ownership of an issue through final resolution.

Position Scope & Development Expectations

Complex SFC issues may require source-code review, system-logic analysis, database procedure changes, API changes, data correction, or code-level debugging. These responsibilities are beyond the normal scope of traditional onsite support and cannot be fully transferred through a short-term handover.

The successful candidate will progressively develop a deep understanding of the SFC source code, architecture, database structure, manufacturing processes, and system dependencies through hands-on experience and close collaboration with the SFC development team.

This position is intended for someone seeking to build long-term expertise in SFC/MES software development and become a fully capable SFC software engineer.

Success in This Role

The goal is to independently support the full technical resolution process:

Production Issue → System Analysis → Source-Code Review → Root Cause → Database/API Analysis → Code/Data Correction → Testing → Deployment → Permanent Fix

The long-term objective is to develop a fully capable SFC software engineer who can independently analyze complex SFC issues and work closely with the SFC development organization to maintain and continuously improve the manufacturing system.
