Mojo

New York / Global

Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Job Description

We build systems that price outcomes, make markets, and manage risk across prediction markets and sportsbooks.

Mojo is a team of highly talented people with deep backgrounds in trading, engineering, data science, and sports, including people from top market makers, big tech, sportsbooks, and professional teams. We’re profitable and well capitalized with multiple streams of revenue. The systems we run are real-time, high-volume, and directly tied to company P&L.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands‑on Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with strong infrastructure expertise and solid programming skills. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering and infrastructure, with a focus on building and maintaining a reliable, scalable, and high‑performing platform.

The day‑to‑day would be a mix of coding, supporting and improving our platform, Kubernetes/AWS infrastructure, automation, reliability, observability, incident troubleshooting, and building tooling/services where needed. This is not a role focused solely on managing Terraform or cloud resources. We are looking for an engineer who can write code, understand infrastructure deeply, and use automation to solve operational problems effectively. The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of SRE and infrastructure expertise, with the ability to approach operational challenges through engineering.

We value engineers who are driven by clarity, care deeply about correctness and performance, and are motivated by solving problems that matter to the business.

What You’ll Do

Design, build, and operate reliable, scalable infrastructure across AWS and Kubernetes/EKS.

Build and maintain infrastructure automation using Terraform, Helm, GitHub Actions, and other platform tooling.

Write production‑quality code, primarily in Go and/or Python, to automate operational workflows, build internal tools, and solve reliability challenges.

Troubleshoot complex production issues across applications, Kubernetes, AWS services, networking, and Linux systems.

Build and improve observability across metrics, logs, and traces using tools such as Datadog and Prometheus.

Improve deployment, provisioning, and operational workflows to make infrastructure and application delivery safer, faster, and more repeatable.

Design systems and operational processes with reliability, fault tolerance, scalability, security, and operational simplicity in mind.

Partner closely with application engineers to understand service behavior and resolve infrastructure, performance, and reliability issues.

Identify recurring operational problems and turn them into automated, scalable solutions rather than manual processes.

Contribute to technical architecture and design decisions across infrastructure, platform, and application boundaries.

Help establish and evolve engineering standards around infrastructure, reliability, observability, automation, and production operations.

Take ownership of production systems and incidents from investigation through resolution and long‑term remediation.

Participate in our on‑call rotation (~1 week every 13 weeks), with 24‑hour coverage expectations during that period.

What We’re Looking For

Strong hands‑on experience with AWS and production cloud infrastructure.

Strong Kubernetes experience, particularly Amazon EKS, including deploying and managing workloads with Helm.

Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.

Experience building and maintaining CI/CD and deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar tooling.

Programming experience in Go and/or Python, with a track record of building automation, internal tooling, or production services.

Strong production troubleshooting and debugging skills across infrastructure and applications.

Experience with observability systems covering metrics, logs, and distributed tracing; experience with Datadog, Prometheus, or similar platforms.

Solid understanding of networking, IAM, Linux systems, and common AWS services such as S3, SQS, MSK/Kafka, and related infrastructure.

Ability to understand application behavior and work effectively across infrastructure, platform, and application teams.

Experience designing systems for reliability, scalability, fault tolerance, and operational simplicity.

Strong ownership mindset and the ability to operate independently in a fast‑moving production environment.

Experience identifying operational pain points and improving them through automation and engineering rather than relying on manual processes.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field—or equivalent practical experience.

Understanding of financial markets, including exchange connectivity, order lifecycle, and market data.

Experience with FIX (Financial Information eXchange) protocol.

Okta administration is a strong plus.

We’re excited to offer the following benefits to our employees:

Competitive total compensation package including base salary, profit share and equity

Generous benefit package, including: medical, vision and dental insurance, OneMedical membership

Company‑funded Health Savings Account with enrollment in high‑deductible healthcare plan

401(k) retirement plan available to contribute on Day 1

Company‑paid life insurance

Generous parental leave

Unlimited PTO

Salary Range: $180,000 - $200,000 + Profit share program + Equity

Working Hours:

For this role, the hours will probably vary significantly, including evenings and weekends, aligned with, or before/during/after sporting events

These timeframes are based on Eastern/New York.

The role can be based in the NY metro area or fully remote elsewhere in the US.

At Mojo, we are committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace.
