Job Title: Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Engineer – AWS
Location: Onsite 3 days a week in Charlotte, NC
Type: Direct Hire
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled RHEL Engineer with strong AWS experience to support, maintain, and enhance our enterprise Linux infrastructure. This role is responsible for designing, deploying, and managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems both on-premises and within AWS cloud environments, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and maintain RHEL-based systems across on-prem and AWS environments
Build and manage AWS infrastructure , including EC2, VPCs, IAM, EBS, and networking components
Automate system provisioning and configuration using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or CloudFormation
Perform system hardening, patching, and vulnerability remediation in alignment with security policies
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure system reliability and uptime
Manage and maintain Linux services , including web servers, databases, and middleware
Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
Collaborate with security, networking, and application teams to support enterprise initiatives
Maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.)
Strong knowledge of Linux system administration , including performance tuning and troubleshooting
Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible preferred)
Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
Experience with patch management and security compliance frameworks
Strong scripting skills ( Bash, Python, or similar )
Understanding of networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, firewalls, load balancing)
Preferred Qualifications
AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, SysOps, or DevOps Engineer)
Experience with container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Prometheus, Splunk)
