Responsibilities of the Compounding Pharmacy Technician include the following:
Demonstrates a working knowledge regarding non-sterile compounding, ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements including USP and . This may include, but is not limited to, the compounding of capsules, oral liquids, topical preparations, nasal preparations, suppositories, troches, tablet triturates, and lollipops.
Maintain detailed records of all compounding activities including batch records and logs.
Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate workflow, scheduling and resolve any issues. Work closely with the pharmacist to ensure accurate and timely compounded preparations.
Demonstrate competency in the maintenance, calibration and cleaning of the compounding area and equipment as required by USP guidelines and operating procedures. Follow all safety protocols to prevent contamination and ensure a safe working environment.
Manage inventory of compounding ingredients and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels. Properly label and store all ingredients and compounded medications.
Participation in ongoing training and quality assurance activities as well as routine meetings, reporting, and coordination with other departments or personnel as directed by the Compounding Lab Manager or his designee and/or the partners or their designee.
Team player. Positive coordination is expected with pharmacists and other pharmacy personnel, operations manager, patient care team, logistics, and sales and marketing (as applicable and under the leadership of the Compounding Lab Manager).
Other projects, activities, or responsibilities assigned at the discretion of the Compounding Lab Manager, the partners or their designee.
Minimum Qualifications
Tennessee-registered and Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred. Certification eligible candidates may be considered once Tennessee-registered. Must be certified to work in the compounding lab.
Minimum two years experience as a compounding technician is preferred.
Computer skills that include word processing, and efficient use of the internet and e-mail.
Current, unrestricted Tennessee Pharmacy Technician license.
Physical Requirements
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit, as well as talk and hear.
Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to lift up to at least 30 pounds.
