Remote Senior Full-Stack TypeScript Developer

Job Description

Full-time

Description

Location and In-Person Expectations This is a remote position, but the candidate must be local to the Gilbert/Mesa area (or the greater Phoenix metro area). We get together in person for team lunches, company updates and training, and ad hoc conference room sessions when a project benefits from whiteboarding it out together. Day to day work happens wherever you work best.

About Us Five Guys Roofing is a well-established roofing company dedicated to leveraging technology to improve the experience of both our customers and our employees. Our culture is deeply rooted in family values and a strong commitment to service.

Some of what you build here reaches beyond Five Guys Roofing itself. Several companies operate under the same umbrella, and the systems we develop often serve more than one of them.

Position Overview We are looking for a senior full-stack developer who is comfortable scoping, planning, and shipping projects with minimal supervision. You will work alongside an experienced developer who is available for feedback and direction, but you will own your work end to end. We value well-rounded people who manage their own time, set realistic deadlines and hit them, and can carry more than one project at a time.

This is a senior role. You should be able to walk into an unfamiliar part of the codebase, figure out how it works, and make a good decision about what to do next.

Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain web applications using our tech stack.

Own projects from idea through deployment, including setting delivery dates and communicating clearly when something is at risk.

Collaborate with departments across the company to build tools that improve efficiency, automate repetitive work, and strengthen outreach.

Integrate third-party services and APIs into our internal systems and customer-facing experiences.

Manage the full software development lifecycle: testing, debugging, deploying, and supporting what you ship.

Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical teammates, vendors, partners, and occasionally customers.

Evaluate emerging tools and technologies and recommend improvements that keep our stack modern and maintainable.

Tech Stack Here is what you would be working in day to day:

TypeScript across the stack

Node.js (AdonisJS)

Svelte / SvelteKit

PostgreSQL

Tailwind CSS or vanilla CSS

Tauri for desktop and mobile app builds

Rust where performance optimization calls for it

How We Use AI AI is part of our daily workflow, not a novelty and not a shortcut. We do not ship vibe-coded slop. Every AI-assisted change has an experienced developer at the helm who understands the code, reviews it, and is accountable for it.

In practice, we use AI for:

Prototyping: turning an idea into a partially working model quickly, so stakeholders can react to something real instead of a description

Planning: breaking down scope, pressure-testing approaches, and drafting technical plans

Code execution: implementing well-specified work with tight review loops

Documentation: keeping internal documentation current and Linear tickets accurate and up to date

Verification and QA: test coverage, edge case hunting, and reviewing our own work critically, with access to bug reports and test data to work from

Triage: narrowing down bugs and log noise, using real bug reports and test data to get to a root cause faster

The skill we care about is judgment: knowing when to reach for AI and how to use it well, and recognizing when your own experience points to a simpler solution.

Recent Projects A cloud phone system built in-house, including a browser-based softphone with call transfers, parking, and CRM lookup

AI-powered call intelligence: transcription, summarization, and quality scoring for customer calls

A field capture and inspections system that turns photos and notes into branded customer reports

Synchronized internal Gmail messages with our CRM

Expanded business intelligence reporting using PostgreSQL and Metabase

Projects On Deck A multi-company, multi-warehouse inventory system

A training and documentation platform (LMS) for onboarding and ongoing education

Continued phone system improvements, including mobile app distribution

Consolidating several company applications onto a shared multi-tenant platform

Deeper CRM and messaging integrations across text, email, and calls

If you enjoy building real tools that people use every day, and you want to do it inside a family-oriented company that actually invests in technology, we would love to hear from you.

We do not expect every line item on day one. Deep experience in a comparable stack, plus the ability to pick up the rest quickly, matters far more than exact prior experience.

Qualifications 6+ years of professional software development experience

Strong proficiency in both front-end and back-end development

Solid grasp of the software development lifecycle, testing methodology, and debugging technique

Track record of owning projects independently, committing to delivery dates, and meeting them

Comfort working with AI tooling as a force multiplier rather than a replacement for understanding

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor a message to the audience

A growth mindset and genuine curiosity about how things work

Bonus: experience with marketing technology, CRM integrations, telephony, or the roofing industry

Additional Information A college degree is not required. Demonstrated experience and a commitment to continuous learning matter far more to us.

In rare cases of system failure or emergency, we need someone willing to address the issue promptly, including on a weekend.
