Senior Software Engineer

Job TitleTriages, designs, and develops features and fixes for the Connetic payments platform. Works within the product engineering team with a primary focus on customer issues and platform enhancement.Job ResponsibilitiesDiagnose and fix production defects across a distributed Java/Spring Boot microservices platformOwn issues end to end - from reproduction through root cause analysis to deployed fix, coordinating with feature teams when domain expertise is neededWork from a prioritized backlog of bugs and tech debt items when not handling active escalations, driven by product prioritizationTriage incoming issues by severity and business impact, escalating or pulling in the right people when neededJoin incident bridges as needed, contributing diagnostics, context, and resolution pathsCoordinate across teams (Product Management, Professional Services, Operations, scrum teams) to keep issues moving toward resolutionIdentify recurring defect patterns and advocate for systemic fixes with feature teams and productHelp shape the support function contribute to processes, rotation models, and operational standards as this team maturesIndependently designs, develops, tests and delivers high quality software/solutions. Provides direct estimates, such as time, percentage of project completion, etc. to lead and/or manager.Researches and resolves reported systems software problems efficiently and accurately while adhering to internal software management standards and procedures.Maintains detailed knowledge of software, underlying network and system software, and dependencies.Provides guidance and subject matter expertise to the development organization.Perform other duties as assignedUnderstand and adhere to all corporate policies to include but not limited to the ACI Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required for the JobBachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent software development experience.5+ years of experience in software engineering, production support engineering, or a similar hands-on technical roleStrong debugging and troubleshooting skills in distributed systems - comfortable with log analysis, tracing, and root cause investigationProficiency in Java and experience working within microservices architecturesAbility to read, understand, and modify code across unfamiliar servicesClear written and verbal communication with both technical and non-technical audiencesComfort working across multiple issues with varying urgencySelf-directed and resourceful; able to operate effectively with ambiguity as the team and processes are still formingPreferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience Needed for the JobExperience with Kubernetes and container-orchestrated environmentsFamiliarity with event-driven / choreographed microservice patterns and messaging systems (e.g., NATS or similar)Experience with MongoDB or other document-oriented databasesFamiliarity with frontend technologies (Angular / JavaScript) for end-to-end debuggingBackground in payments, fintech, or high-availability transaction processingExperience with observability tooling (OpenTelemetry, Grafana, or equivalent)Prior experience in L3 support, escalation engineering, or customer-facing technical rolesWork EnvironmentStandard work environmentMajority time spent on PC (Phys.
