Job Description

Mechanical Engineer | Space Hardware | Junior to Mid Level

Type: Full-time, on-site

Package: Salary + equity

I’m working with an early-stage space company hiring several junior and mid-level mechanical engineers to support the development of new space hardware.

They’re looking for people with strong engineering fundamentals who enjoy figuring out how things work, building hardware and solving unfamiliar problems.

You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and get involved in design, analysis, assembly and testing, with responsibility growing as you develop.

The role

Design mechanical components, assemblies and mechanisms.

Use calculations and analysis to evaluate designs and understand how hardware will behave.

Take concepts through detailed design, prototyping and testing.

Help assemble hardware, investigate failures and improve designs.

Work with mechanical, electrical and manufacturing colleagues to resolve integration issues.

Take ownership of components and assemblies through their development.

What they’re looking for

The main priorities are strong first-principles reasoning and a good attitude. You should understand mechanical engineering fundamentals and be able to apply them when there isn’t an obvious answer.

Practical experience matters. That could come from your current role, an internship, university projects or something you’ve designed and built yourself.

They want engineers who are curious, hardworking, willing to ask questions and able to learn from mistakes. You should enjoy getting hands‑on and be comfortable working in a small team where things move quickly.

Previous space experience is a bonus, but it isn’t essential.

You’ll get exposure to the full hardware development process, work closely with experienced engineers and have the chance to take on meaningful responsibility early.

The company offers equity, and there is room to grow with the engineering team as the programme develops.
