Director of FinanceAnchor Center for Blind ChildrenDenver MetroOrganization type: NonprofitType of role: Part-timeJob Category: FinanceHourly: $40 - $50Position Title: Director of FinanceClassification: Non-exempt, 12-16 hours/weekReports to: Executive DirectorDate open: March 2026Summary/ObjectiveThe Director of Finance serves as a strategic thought partner to the Director of Development, the Executive Director, and the Board of Directors. This role is responsible for providing recommendations and support for finance, business planning, budgeting, and administration. It plays a critical role in strategic decision-making and operations to support Anchor Center's financial health and sustainability.Essential FunctionsFinancial Reporting: Analyze and present accurate, timely financial reports; communicate monthly and annual statements; and oversee financial, program, and grants accounting.Audit & Compliance: Coordinate the annual audit process, serving as the primary liaison for external auditors and the Board's finance committee.Budgeting: Lead the annual budgeting and planning process with the Executive Director and Development Director; administer financial plans and keep leadership informed of organizational status.Cash Flow Management: Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting. Bill for tuition and pay vendors. Manage accounting and finance processes, banking, insurance, maintain records of payroll, donations, fixed assets and depreciation, investment earnings, and accrual accounts.Systems & Policy: Implement robust contract and financial management systems; ensure adherence to billing/collection schedules; and update business policies and accounting practices.Human Resources: Manage benefits and payroll for employees.Leadership & Collaboration: Participate as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and attend staff, Board, and committee meetings.Engagement: Maintain knowledge of program activities and effectively communicate financial matters to the Board of Directors.Education and ExperienceEducation: Bachelor's or Associate's degree in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, business management, or a related field, and/or four years of equivalent experience required.Certification: CPA certification preferred.Experience: At least four years of broad financial experience, including financial data and audit coordination. Nonprofit experience helpful.Software Knowledge: Blackbaud Financial and Raisers Edge, Microsoft products, online payroll systemsCompetenciesExcellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsStrong organizational and management skillsAbility to translate complex financial concepts for colleagues and stakeholdersHigh degree of integrity, ethical behavior, and professional standardsAbility to follow through consistently and work as a collaborative team memberWork Environment & Physical DemandsOffice environment within an early education and therapeutic setting for children with vision impairments and their families.Must be able to occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds.Hours of WorkPart-time, 12-16 hours per week.Primarily business hours.
