Professional Civil EngineerProfessional Civil Engineer working in the planning design, construction, inspection and maintenance of a variety of public works projects and facilities.Responsibilities include:Design and development of construction plans and specifications for roads, bridges, water supply systems, street lights, street parking, sanitary sewer systems, stormwater management systems, and other public works facilities.Reviewing field surveys to develop information required for design and construction of public works projects.Reviewing plans for public works projects for compliance with standards.Reviewing engineering reports, basis of design reports, and regulatory compliance filings; ensuring that reports are detailed, methodical, and provide clear logic for engineering designs and decisions.Making recommendations for upgrades and improvements to city facilities.Supervising the preparation of cost estimates for public works projects.Developing engineering procedures.Supervising the inspection of various public works construction projects.Performing related work as required.Performing the duties of a Project Engineer, when required.Developing maintenance of traffic plans.Minimum requirements include:Clear, concise, and comprehensible communication in both written and verbal formats.Current registration as a Professional Engineer by the State of Florida.Capability of signing and sealing engineering drawings and documents in accordance with the rules of the Florida Board of Professional Engineers and Florida Statute 61G15-23.Physical requirements include:Use of sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public.Physical capability to use and operate various office equipment.Ability to stand, walk, move, or kneel to perform duties.Physical capability to use field inspection instruments.For all positions:Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, coworkers, the press, the general public, and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability, political affiliation, gender identity, or sexual orientation.Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of all city ethics and conflicts of interest policies.
