Senior Cloud Engineer, Sterling VA: build, scale, and productize the hosting platform our customers depend on.If you want to know about the requirements for this role, read on for all the relevant information.General Accountability: The Senior Cloud Engineer implements and manages complex cloud infrastructure solutions while providing technical guidance to other team members. This role focuses on the deployment, optimization, and management of virtualization, storage, VDI, data protection, security solutions, and compliance frameworks across multi-tenant, and dedicated platforms. The role also works directly with customers to implement services on the hosting platform, supports the technical productization of XaaS offerings (primarily IaaS, PaaS, and similarly positioned service offerings), and leads technology evaluations to inform platform strategy.Responsibilities/Duties:Virtualization & Infrastructure ManagementImplement and manage service provider-grade virtualization and cloud infrastructureConfigure and maintain VDI environments for client workloadsDesign and deploy storage solutions including both traditional SAN/NAS & Distributed storage based offeringsImplement and test disaster recovery solutionsSecurity & ComplianceImplement and maintain security controls and best practices across cloud and virtualization platformsSupport adherence to compliance frameworks and regulatory requirements across hosted environmentsCustomer Implementation & Platform ProductizationWork directly with customers to implement and configure services on the hosting platform as well as dedicated infrastructureSupport technical productization of XaaS (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) offerings, partnering with product and solutions engineering teams to bring new capabilities to marketEvaluate emerging technologies and vendor solutions, providing recommendations on platform adoption and strategyOperations, Support & LeadershipProvide escalation support and troubleshooting for complex issuesLead engineering projects and initiativesMentor junior engineers and review technical workParticipate in on-call rotation for critical infrastructure supportContribute to technical documentation and standard operating proceduresPerform other related duties as assignedExperience and Core Competencies:10+ years of experience in Core Cloud Engineering (virtualization, storage, data protection, etc…)Strong expertise in virtualization technologies (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V)Strong hands-on experience with Omnissa, Workspaceone and other EUM solutionsStrong hands-on experience with with VDI solutions (Omnissa Horizon, Citrix)Experience with both Windows & Linux systems administration xhyhwjd Experience with compute implementations and infrastructure security controls in enterprise environmentsFamiliarity with technical productization of XaaS offerings and evaluating new technologies for platform adoptionPreferred Qualifications:Familiarity with service meshesKnowledge of security best practicesExposure to multi-cloud or hybrid environmentsKey Competencies:Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsAbility to operate in high-scale environmentsStrong collaboration skillsFocus on automation and reliabilitySuccess Metrics:Reduced system downtimeImproved deployment frequency and MTTRImproved observability coverageReduction in manual operational effortPhysical Requirements: Lifting Up to 50 poundsFrequent walking, sitting, standing, bending.
